Secondary Forest

Most of Costa Rica's old growth primary forest was logged out a long time ago. Much was clear cut for crops, and now preserves like Tapanti are making helping to make a comeback. In this land of "put a stick in the gorund and it grows", even with abundant life, it takes a long time for the old primary growth to come back. Pharmaceuticla giant Merck & Co. (knowing where their products come from?) has bought up huge tracts for preservation. GOtta take those mixed blessing where you can!
