real estate shopping

Its a buyer's market here. There are some things to know though - like, you can't build in a "zona roja" or red zone - an area determined by seismologists? the government? the roll of the dice? a bureaucrat's red pencil? - where there might be danger or avalanches (that would be mudslides here) or terremotos (earthquakes). All that said, everyone and their brother, sister or cousin (sometimes all three) has land for sale. Its all got a beautiful view, fruit trees, and water. Sometimes, it also has a road to it! Or a phone line and electric, but not necessarily a house. This is the view from a property in the village of Palomo, overlooking the Rio Macho (yes, its really called that - Macho here is one localism for "white") and the town of Orosi.
