Floor buffing, Tico style

Here is Adrian, a native Costa Rican (aka "Tico") living in Orosi, helping to clean the floors at Montana Linda. On his feet are two sliced coconuts of a specific type, which when rubbed on wood or painted cement floors, rub it up to a slippery gloss. Usually, people do this on their hands and knees, or the kids do it. Adrian told us how he and his brother used to play "skating" doing this as kids.
